Are you working with a Realtor

who is properly licensed

and familiar with your desired area?

Your Realtor must understand your vision and goals!  

Research the agent and brokerage by reviewing their biographies & background information normally available on the agent's website.  If the agent stresses their "BIG AGENCY", please consider that "size" is rarely a key factor in real estate.  The number of agents doesn't equate to better service or sales.  Ask how many full time agents reside in the office... you'll find many agencies claim large numbers when in actuality they have very few "full time/dedicated" agents to serve you.  A smaller agency can serve the majority of needs and may be well worth considering.  They  are more knowledgeable about each agents listings.  Small brokerages are often family owned & operated and provide more personal service as opposed to larger corporate offices and franchises.  Follow-up is essential... if you’ve requested listing and other information, a good Realtor will forward information in a professional and timely manner.  

 

Sellers normally pay the commission... not the buyer

In today’s challenging market, why not use all available resources to ensure you get the most for your money? While many buyers are knowledgeable and may have purchased homes in the past, a qualified Realtor who has kept pace (through ongoing training) can protect you by bringing their knowledge and expertise to the table with recent changes in county, state and local laws.

 

Don’t work one agent against another...

"Property shopping" is fine, however buyers should be honest and up-front with their agent(s) and inform them that they are currently working with other agencies. Conflict, confusion and repetition results when several agents are sending similar or duplicate information and listings to a buyer... everyone loses!

Surveys suggest we have “bottomed out” and many believe there will likely be an increase in housing prices in upcoming months.  All agree, availability is up and now is a great time to purchase that first home or investment property!
